Hi Pre-tour participants!
We Pre-tour organizers are absolutely delighted that those participants who have had to cancel their trip have told us so in written. This has enabled us to maintain a meaningful queue list and accept people eager to take part. I hope that you continue this code of good conduct – thanks!
Perhaps we take this opportunity to present the five persons who are responsible for the tour: We are all belonging to the unofficial FSSV subgroup under the Saab Club of Finland umbrella. The group consists of saabists who speak the second official language, Swedish as their mother tongue. Our uniform is red and yellow so that we can recognize any other FSSV member at SAAB events.
Jörgen Björkqvist (31). Single, an engineer living and working in Pargas. He is very experienced with older SAABs. Take a look at Jörgen’s homepage you find at http://personal.inet.fi/koti/jb/ and admire his SAAB capabilities. Jörgen is also the webmaster for FSSV homepage http://motorsidor.proboards.com/index.cgi His choice of SAAB is 95/96, which doesn’t exclude owning a few 99 and 900, of course.
Marcus Henriksson (30). Family: wife and a young boy. Like Jörgen they live in Pargas. Marcus is a truck salesman selling Volvo in Turku. He is a relative recent SAAB converted. He borrowed Jörgen’s 96 and made it to the INTSAAB2009 in Latvia with his wife. He was so pleased with the borrowed car and the company of other saabists that, he purchased and customized a 96 of his own. His SAAB got ready just in time for the INTSAAB2010 in Interlaken last August. Marcus was most eager to be one of the organizers of this tour.
Gustav Juslin (35). Not yet legally married. He is a self employed entrepreneur living in Lohja. His main occupation is what he has become renowned for; tricky timber cutting in places where no harvesters can be used like parks, gardens and around houses, power lines etc. Being polyvalent, Gustav has also specialized in old house maintenance and repairs. He has a long Saab history with strong genes he got from his saabisting father and uncle. He is also an occasional historic rally driver. Saab 95/96 is what counts!
Robert Holmström (39) lives on the southernmost tip of Finland in the town Hangö (Hankoo). Family consists of wife and a daughter. He works for the local parish looking after the maintenance of their real estates. Robert’s father drove a SAAB 96. He restored the same car for the first time in 1988-89. A renewed restoration is presently under way. Other cars include besides numerous 96s a 95 and a SAABO. In daily use he drives a 9-3.
Carl-Eirik Nikander (67) married with three grownup siblings who have left the nest. Two of them are members of the Finnish Saab club with 96s of their own. Retired B. Sc. (econ) living in Borgå. Since many years a board member of The Saab Club of Finland occupied with international liaisons. He is also a columnist to Saabisti, our club magazine. Several restored 95/96, latest diversion an OG 900 to top things up.
